Fiction rules the waves; new release Family Sailaway by Derek Curzon, published March 2017, London

Another of my wonderful authors, Derek Curzon, launched his book virtually, at the March AuthorCraft event at the Institute of Directors, London, live via Skype from his home in Preston, Lancashire!Publisher Chris with Derek on-screen

Family Sailaway is the second in the Sailaway Trilogy and starts six months after the original book, Surprise Sailaway.

The book tells the story of Sarah and Paul’s blossoming and their adventures on the high seas of cruising holidays. Sarah receives a flyer from CZN cruises and when they visit her aunt and uncle at Christmas, a weeks cruise is discussed, planned and booked. This time the ship is bigger, the cruise longer and with a hurricane brewing close by, there could be rough seas ahead. Sarah’s cousin Megan is also on board and as a young and single female, who knows what she’ll get up to!

With other families trying to enjoy themselves on board and interacting with Sarah and her group, what kind of cruise will they have? And what is going on with a fellow passenger who Megan has befriended and Sarah seems to know who behaving strangely?

Derek’s book was published on 10th March 2017. Family Sailaway is 198 pages long and costs £9.99. It is available to buy from Amazon, all good book shops, and the Filament bookshop. It is also available to pre-order on Kindle.

Derek’s website is: www.sailaway.voyage where you can also enjoy his Nautical Nights blog.

Derek Curzon first book Surprise Sailaway was released in 2015, the first in a planner trilogy, the Sailaway Trilogy.

Born and raised in Dundee, Scotland, he studied accountancy before joining RBS in 1989. He has worked in accountancy, financial services and customer services.

Derek’s first cruise was his honeymoon in 2005. After his fifth cruise in 2013, he decided to write about his experiences. This soon expanded to include characters, plots and his first book.

In 2012, he came second in a competition run by P&O to describe cruise experiences. He has written an article about cruising published in 50 Plus Magazine. He writes a weekly, fictional cruise blog, Nautical Nights, which takes a humorous look at life aboard a cruise ship and the activities of the crew and passengers. Extracts can be found at the back of the book.

One of my coaching clients, Helen Haynes, published her first book after struggling to complete it for 20 years. Helen published, “Make it Count!” in September 2014 in London and in the first month she sold more than 400 copies. In her inspirational and powerful book Helen wrote “Thanks to my fab book coach, Wendy Yorke who helped get me to that finish line.”

Great Action Planning Tool

Coaching Tool

My X and Y Action Planning 2013 to 2014

Do you have something you really want to achieve in your life and are struggling to get started or make it happen ?

Well, here is a really great Action Planning tool to help focus your mind and your attention, so you can have what you want and achieve that goal.

I learnt this coaching tool from the lovely Pam Lidford, a Performance and Confidence Coach and trainer with the Coaching Academy of London.

Now to get started, all you need is a packet of colourful Post It Notes, a good pen and a clear, blank wall.

Take the first Post It Note and write a large X on it and today’s date. Stick this on the far left side of the clear space on your wall.

Take a second Post It, write a large Y on it. Underneath that write down the particular goal you want to achieve and the date you want to achieve it by.

The goal must be stated in the present, personal and positive. For example: I am running my own business by June 2014 with 6 clients a week; I am a company Director by  October 2013 earning an annual salary of at least £120,000; or I am an author with my first book published by April 2015; or I have a loving partner who I can trust by December 2013; you get the idea. Stick this Post It on the far right side of your wall.

Now, think of all the steps you need to take to achieve your goal. Add as much detail as you can; facts; figures; dates, people and place names etc.

Write each step on a new Post It and stick these on the wall between the X and Y posts, in whatever order you like. You can always move them around later and you can add more as your thinking about your goal develops.

Then, stand back and admire your handiwork. Notice how good you feel and empowered to start taking the actions on the wall!

Of course, I take this exercise one step further! After the Y note, I add colour pictures of the rewards that I will give myself once I have achieved my goal.

And remember, as you achieve the steps along your path to success, you can take them off the wall and see your progress as you advance along the wall towards your goal and its completion date. It’s very cool! You can also collect the achieved Post It Notes as success milestones to celebrate along the way.

This motivating tool is about activating the Law of Attraction to work for you, so you get what you want. By getting your goals and actions out of your head and onto the wall, with dates and time frames, and in a logical order, you are making them a reality. You are attracting the universe to respond to you; and you are helping to build your clarity, courage and commitment around each goal and action. This can help lead you to your success. If you believe in achieving your goals you will.

This works really well for me – please let me know how it works for you.

Oh what a feeling!

Bottle Brush AustraliaOk, so this is my first blog and I’m really excited! I feel energized and full of good things to share with you and to write about, to support, motivate and inspire you.

Embarking on this new global adventure, I feel just like this photograph I took some years ago of a Bottle Brush in bloom in Fremantle, Western Australia; clear, colourful, radiant and shining!

I recently gave up my day job to focus on my training and coaching business and this is making me so happy! To be doing what I want to do, what feels right, following my direction and fulfilling my purpose, at last!

And this is why I am sharing this with you today. Wherever you are and whatever situation you are in, your own potential for success and happiness is right inside you now. When you are ready, you can set yourself free to shine. I know, I have just arrived! So, if you are with me, my first tip to help you is to ask yourself these three key questions

1. What do I want to be in my life?

2. What do I want to do with my life?

3. What do I want to have in my life?

The being, doing and having questions are known, in coaching terms, as goal setting questions.

Answer these questions for yourself and once you have the answers that feel / look / sound / taste / and smell, right for you, then make sure that everyday you are doing things that get you closer to achieving these goals.

In fact, you can ask yourselves these questions everyday! For example, What did I achieve today that gets me closer to what I want to have; who I want to be; and what I want to do?

And you know what will happen – the universe will respond and this is the really exciting bit. If you are true to yourself and if your answers (your goals) are aligned with your personal values (your beliefs and attitudes) – you will be successful and happy.

Like me now, doing what I want to do = supporting, motivating and inspiring people through my work; having what I want to have = my own training and coaching business; and being who I want to be = a catalyst of change and empowerment; helping other people to create exciting new futures for themselves. Join me – it’s a wonderful place to be!
